- Riley Green is joining season 30 of ‘The Voice.’
- He’ll be coaching alongside Kelly Clarkson and Adam Levine.
- The singer is currently starring on ‘Marshals.’
Riley Green is booked and busy! He’s in the middle of his Cowboy as It Gets tour, with dates into August. Earlier this year, he surprised country music fans by making his acting debut alongside Luke Grimes on Marshals. And now he’s heading to TV for an all-new role as a coach on The Voice.
NBC announced the news on May 9. Riley will be joining the popular singing competition show in the fall, and he’ll be competing against returning coaches Adam Levine and Kelly Clarkson. The fourth member of the panel has not yet been announced.
Riley shared the news with his fans on Instagram, along with a recording of a voice message sent to him by Kelly. Kelly said they had never met in person, but she’s a big fan of his music. “Welcome to The Voice. I was stoked whenever I heard you were going to be a coach, because I actually am a super fan of your music, you’re so good. You probably know that because I’ve covered your songs.”
But Kelly couldn’t hide her competitive spirit. “Needless to say, fan and all, it’s a competition. So as a future friend, I sent you something, a little gift to get your head in the game….because I think you’re going to need the practice, because Team Kelly is gonna whup that ***.” She paired the message with his very own red coaching chair with his name on it.
Riley’s post was flooded with messages from excited fans. “I will be watching this season 😍” one fan promised. Another said, “get to see your face on my screen every week 😍😍😍” One commenter said, “I won’t miss a single episode.” Host Carson Daly chimed in with, “Welcome to the fam!! Can’t wait to hang! You drink right? Pls God say yes….😮”
NBC has not yet announced a premiere date, but we will be locked in!
