A major incident has been declared after a huge moorland fire has forced 34 properties to evacuate their homes in Greater Manchester. The blaze has been spreading across Saddleworth Moor since Sunday amid Britain's current hot weather and fire crews have been "working tirelessly" at the scene in the days since. On Thursday, a new moorland blaze on Winter Hill, near Bolton, broke out. Emergency services have warned that the fires could take weeks to put out.
Firefighters have been tackling a second fire on Winter Hill.
The fire is around around 30 miles away from the large blaze on Saddleworth Moor.
One hundred soldiers and a military helicopter have joined firefighters battling the wildfire at Saddleworth.
It has been declared a 'major incident' by Greater Manchester Police.
The blaze spread across the moors between Dovestones and Buckton Vale in Stalybridge, Greater Manchester, on Tuesday night.
The fire has been raging since Sunday.
