You can now celebrate the summer solstice (Sunday 21st June) from the comfort of your own home during lockdown, with a livestream of Stonehenge in Wiltshire at sunrise.

Traditionally, around 10,000 revellers head to the prehistoric monument at the crack of dawn to welcome the longest day of the year. This year, however, English Heritage has cancelled the event "for the safety and wellbeing of attendees, volunteers and staff".

Stonehenge might be closed to visitors, but that doesn't mean you have to miss out on the much-loved event completely.

"We have consulted widely on whether we could have proceeded safely and we would have dearly liked to host the event as per usual, but sadly in the end, we feel we have no choice but to cancel," Nichola Tasker, Stonehenge's director tells Timeout London.

"We hope that our live stream offers an alternative opportunity for people near and far to connect with this spiritual place at such a special time of year and we look forward to welcoming everyone back next year."
