Sour Cream Pancakes with Spiced Blackberry Compote

Pancakes topped with berry sauce on a woven placemat.
Becky Luigart-Stayner

Pancakes are always a great idea, especially when topped with a homemade berry syrup or compote. This blackberry compote is easy to make and just involves stirring together a few ingredients in a saucepan, then simmering for 10 minutes. It can be made a couple of days in advance, so you can have it ready to go before Mother’s Day. We also love it on waffles, stirred into yogurt, or even on pound cake. The pancakes themselves are soft and tender and easy to whip up, but we also love this overnight pancake recipe if you need a make-ahead option.

Crepes with Strawberries and Lemon Curd

Breakfast spread featuring crepes, strawberries, and beverages.
Brian Woodcock

Similar to pancakes but a little more elegant, these crepes make the most of bright and sweet spring flavors, thanks to lemon curd and fresh strawberries. Use your favorite store-bought lemon curd, or feel free to make your own! You could even switch things up and use whatever berries your mom likes the best. Serving a bright and delicious spread like this (with plenty of coffee, too!) would make any mom’s day.

Bacon and Leek Deep-Dish Quiche

Quiche on a blue platter surrounded by decorative elements.
Brian Woodcock

The secret to this impressive dish is to blind-bake the crust so it gets that gorgeous golden-brown color and comes out nice and flaky. Oh, and one of the best parts about this larger-than-life quiche? It tastes downright delicious served warm, at room temperature, or even cold. To really highlight its French origins—and to add a bit of freshness—we recommend completing the meal with our Spring Greens Caesar Salad. Mom will feel like she’s vacationing in the French countryside.

Chocolate-Stuffed Cream Biscuits

Coffee and baked pastries served on a table.
Becky Luigart-Stayner

Heavy cream makes these biscuits extra rich, and the chocolate croissant-like stuffing gives them a decadent brunch-out feel. It's absolutely perfect with a cup of coffee and a copy of the morning paper.

Baked Brioche-and-Apple Cider Donut French Toast

Breakfast spread featuring baked dish, bacon, and toppings.
Becky Luigart-Stayner

The ultimate breakfast treat for Mother’s Day? This French toast bake. Soft brioche bread and flavorful apple cider donuts are cooked up French toast-style, then paired with absolutely incredible mascarpone whipped cream. We originally served this tasty breakfast with a pear-ginger compote, but you can easily swap it for fresh spring berries or Mom’s favorite fruit. Apple cider donuts might not be in season anymore, so you can switch those out for any donut as well. So don’t be afraid to customize this one to fit Mom’s preferences.

Egg-in-a-Hole Buttermilk Biscuits

Breakfast spread featuring biscuits, bacon, and eggs.
Becky Luigart-Stayner

Here’s a fun brunch treat the whole family will remember! These breakfast-filled biscuits have a little bit of all the good stuff. Homemade buttermilk biscuits get the egg-in-a-hole treatment, with the addition of crispy bacon to take it over the top. And a little pro tip: we like to cover our tiny biscuits (from the holes) in homemade tomato jam for extra effect. It’s delicious all around.

Quiche Lorraine

Quiche with bacon on a wooden table.
Becky Luigart-Stayner

When it comes to classic brunch dishes, is there anything more elegant than Quiche Lorraine? This savory tart, named after the Lorraine region of northeastern France where quiche was invented, has been delighting people since at least the 1500s. In the 1950s, when French food gained superstar status, it became a worldwide phenomenon as well as a brunch staple, and we've never gone back. Serve it hot from the oven or cold out of the fridge with a good side salad and a mimosa for the ultimate Mother’s Day brunch.

Spiced Candied Bacon

Cooked bacon strips on a serving platter.
Becky Luigart-Stayner

Mother’s Day calls for the most delicious and exceptional recipes, and that means bacon elevated with sugar and spice. Whether you’re serving it on a breakfast sandwich or on the side of a stack of pancakes, this extra-special bacon is a perfect Mother’s Day brunch treat. This recipe is also easier than you might think because after dipping each slice of bacon in a brown sugar-cayenne mixture, it’s arranged on a baking tray and baked in the oven. With easier cleanup, you can focus on the main dish for Mom’s celebratory brunch.

Overnight Yeasted Waffles

Waffles topped with fruit and yogurt beside a drink.
Brian Woodcock

Waffles are always a fun brunch treat, and these are even better because you prep them the night before. All you have to do in the morning is give the batter a good stir and heat up the waffle maker. That means you have more time to pamper and celebrate mom. We originally served these with vanilla yogurt and sautéed apples, pears, and cranberries, but feel free to substitute seasonal fruits and berries, or whatever your mom would enjoy the most!
