There’s nothing like the clock change and the lighter days to inspire a spring refresh at home and the Easter weekend is the perfect time to begin.

The good news? A few simple tweaks can make all the difference, with no need to spend a penny.

Swap cushions, throws or artwork between rooms for an instant refresh. “A great way to refresh a space is to rework what you already have,” says style & interiors editor Alaina Binks.

“Swapping pieces between rooms can completely change the mood – it helps you see familiar things in a fresh light.”

In other words 'burping your home', a proper burst of fresh spring air can completely reset a space.

“Fresh air is one of the simplest ways to reset a home,” says Sarah Keady, group style and interiors director. “Opening the windows wide, even for a short time, can make a space feel cleaner, lighter and more energised.”

“Natural light can completely shift the mood of a room,” says houses editor Daisy Bendall. “Even a small change in layout can make a space feel brighter, softer and more inviting.”

Bring the outdoors in

Fill jars with cut greenery, herbs or flowers from the garden.

“Bringing a little of the outside in is a lovely way to mark the change in season,” says editor Vicky Carlisle. “A few sprigs of greenery or blossom dotted around the house can lift a room and add a fresh, natural feel.”
